2003 Golden Globe Nominations!

The Nominations to the annual precursor to really big hollywood social event (see Academy Awards) were announced this week. Cold Mountain, the decent-looking but clulessly marketed Miramax Civil War epic came in first place, racking up eight nominations.

Boston, San Fran Film Critics Best of 2003

The San Francisco Film Critics Circle picked "Lost in Translation" and the Boston Society of Film Critics picked "Mystic River" for their annual lists. Again, Bill Murray nabbed a best actor bid from both the San Fran Circle and the Boston Society. The Boston Society also named "Translation" for best direction (Sofia Coppola) and best actress (Scarlett Johansson).

NY Film Critics Best Film 2003, Return of the King

The New York Critics Circle finally named a Ring film the best of the year. The final installment is rumored to be the strongest chapter in the series and the one most likely to win the big awards. Bill Murray was named best actor for his beautiful performance in Lost in Translation. Sofia Coppola, Translation's director, was named best director.
