Topic: Dtheatre.com SKY CAPTAIN, I ROBOT, LADYKILLERS TRAILERS ONLINE!!!
By Wind(up)bird on December 19, 2003 5:26 PM

The Hollywood holiday hype engine is begging you to fall to your knees and drool over all of the good parts of all of the big budget bad movies that come with every  new year.  Dig the new stockpile of trailers from Will Smith's Summer sci-fi "I, Robot," Gwenyth Paltrow's odd sci-fi "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," and the GREAT LOOKING Coen Brothers' flick with Tom Hanks, "The Ladykillers."

Keep your head on straight and just remember, they (the big hollywood studios) need you a lot more than you need them.

Dig Hanks in the Ladykillers.  This film looks like a hoot.

Just saw the teaser on Sky Captain at the local cinema... is Paramount getting CHEAP or what? If they spend megabucks on Angelina and Gwen did they run out of money for MUSIC? Listen to the backgroung music in the trailer... it's the theme song to Stargate SG-1. GET IT TOGETHER PARAMOUNT!! Nothing like pissing off your hard-core Sci-Fi fans like using the wrong music.

Don't you know that in most trailers, they use music from other movies, it happens all the time.

Re-using music from other movies is common in trailers.  The production team that makes a trailer is often not the same as the team making the movie.  The scoring of a movie often comes last.  The trailer editors will often use whatever music they have that fits the movie.  I guarantee that you've seen at least a dozen trailers with recycled music.  "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" trailers re-used music from "Requiem for a Dream".  Part of the score for "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story" is used on several trailers including trailers for "Forrest Gump".

It's really a common practice and not an indication of studios being "cheap".

Pretty much any new Michael Bay movie will use the music from whichever was his last movie in the trailer. Plus the Robin Hood: Prince of Theives music is used loads
