Quote of the day:
"There is a large element of me in every role I do. Actors who say they can dive inside a character are either schizophrenic or lying." -- Bruce Campbell |

Spielberg will receive Kubrick Award
By Azad on May 2, 2000 10:35 PM
Steven Spielberg will be receiving the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. The award is of course named after the late Stanley Kubrick himself, who directed such famous movies as 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining and many other acclaimed films.
The award recognizes distiguished individuals who have proven themselves through the art of cinema.
Spielberg, winner of three Oscars, will receive the Kubrick Award on November 4 in ceremonies in Los Angeles. Spielberg has directed quite a few memorable films, including E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind and the Indiana Jones trilogy. He will be joining the ranks of previous Britannia Award winners who include John Travolta, Dustin Hoffman, Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Anthony Hopkins, Martin Scorsese, Peter Ustinov, Michael Caine and Albert "Cubby" Broccoli.
Spielberg's upcoming directing task will be A.I., a SciFi plot based on the treatment by the late Stanley Kubrick.
