This fourth of July weekend brought mourning to Hollywood and the entertainment industry with the untimely deaths of Oscar winner Katharine Hepburn, comedian and actor Buddy Hackett, soul king Barry White and Beverly Hillbillies actor Buddy Ebsen.
Screen Legend Katharine Hepburn Dies at 96
The great Katharine Hepburn died last week at the age of 96. One of the silver screen's true legends and the actress considered the first lady of cinema, died Sunday afternoon at her home in Old Saybrook. Hepburn won four Best Actress Oscars one for the 1933 drama Morning Glory, two in a row in 1967 and 1968 for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner and The Lion in Winter, and her final one for 1981's On Golden Pond.

Funnyman Buddy Hackett Dies at 78
Comedian and actor Buddy Hackett, who charmed audiences in the early days of television as well as with roles in such Disney features as The Love Bug and The Little Mermaid, was found dead at his Malibu beach home on Monday; he was 78.

Beverly Hillbillies Star Buddy Ebsen Dies at 95
Actor Buddy Ebsen, who died on Monday aged 95, had an illustrious film career: kissing Barbara Stanwyck, playing Audrey Hepburn's husband and co-starring with the likes of Shirley Temple and Gregory Peck. But he will forever be identified with one television role -- Jed Clampett, patriarch of the dirt-poor Ozark hills family that became rich with an oil strike and moved to California in The Beverly Hillbillies.
