The Onion, going by their description of America's Finest News Source, is known to many as the place to discover news information with a flavor of clever satire. It is satirical news publication at its best.
And now, we find out that Scott Dickens, the editor of The Onion, has made an independent science fiction film entitled Spacemen. I can imagine and hope that the same clever satire and humor will be displayed throughout this film. The film will screen at this year's Cannes Film Festival. The deal seems to get better with Palm Pictures' acquisition of the worldwide distribution rights to Spacemen. Palm Pictures will also help to seek other distributors of the film.
Spacemen is a low budget action comedy. Before reaching the level of Cannes, it won the Austin Film Festival's audience award. The story is about a man who gets abducted by aliens and is turned into a mindless drone. When he is returned to Earth, he then works as a hitman for the mafia. Sounds like an interesting plot line. When it's released, I'd love to get my hands on this film.
Speaking of films... I think we at Digital Theatre need to make a movie someday. Can we have some money? Please? :)
