Quote of the day:

"There is a large element of me in every role I do. Actors who say they can dive inside a character are either schizophrenic or lying." -- Bruce Campbell

Topic: Film Go See Princess Mononoke
By SKillBot on January 10, 2000 3:37 AM

I went to see this movie last night, and I must say that it is one fine piece of anime. It's the long awaited English version of Hayao Miyazaki's masterpiece, and it features the voice talents of Billy Bob Thornton, Claire Danes, and Minnie Driver (whose character was very cool). It reminded me a lot of the Zelda series for some reason. It has everything a good anime should have: graphic violence, cool chicks with guns, a cool chick who rides around on wolves, and nifty tree ghost thingies with clicking heads, and a fun story. It's about two and a half hours long, but it still feels like it's too short. Official Web Site

Hurm...The version I saw was 3:15:00 long. And it seemed a little too long by :15:00 or so. The forest god freaked me out with that face though. Very good all in all, although I couldn't get past the choices for voice overs. Billy Bob and Minnie Driver's accents were distracting from obvious asian characters.

hrm, strange. The previews ended at 9:30, and the credits ended at 11:40... I hope I didn't miss out on anything. I know what you mean about the voices. I got used to the Minnie Driver voice after a while, but it was strange at first. But Claire Daines was perfect! I think the most mismatched voice was the wise old woman of the village. And am I hallucinating, or was Gillian Anderson in there somewhere?
