Sounds exciting, will it be done on time?

I'm looking forward to it, though I must admit I think Marky Mark is not a good choice for Lead role. There are a lot of talented young actors who could be great for that role. Then again maybe Marky Mark will pull it off. Good luck Marky!

Never mind Marky Mark but good luck to Patrick Ewing for the role of the black monkey slave!

Mark Wahlberg will be fantastic as he always is. (Minus the Corrupter which blew)  He is a star, and soon he will be a Rockstar.

Seriously though, is Pat Ewing in the film.

I just want to say that Mark Wahlberg is a great actor. He has left the days of "Marky Mark" far behind him and has grown up.  The only remmant of his rapper days is the way he walks. Watch closely when he walks and you'll know what I mean.
P.S.  Go see my webpage and email feedback ;) my page is http://www.geocities.com/darkangel_86_girl/Camo.html and my email adress is Ripley_86@excite.com

Its not done yet cause he shot 6 different endings so no one could spoil it. None of the cast know how it'll end. Kinda an interesting way of doing it, eh? Certainly know the DVD will be worth checking out for the bonus endings

I was always a fan of the 1968 classic ever since I first saw it in 72 as a kid, when I saw the previews recently in a theater of the remake, I have to admit I wasnt impressed.  Unless excellent word of mouth generates from this film, I cant say I will be enthusiastically waiting to see this film.  I will most likely wait till it hits HBO.  All the scenes Ive seen so far of Mark Wahlburg leading a ragtag group of humans against a ape army bring to mind a bunch of other inane recent films on that same line such as that film with Ray Liotta (No Escape).. that was horrible...

the previews are done by want to be directors and editors at the time the film is beginning to be edited.  It does not reflect whether a film will be good or not.  Tim Burton is brilliant. this should be excellent.  I'm a big fan of the original film and i don't think this will be a let down.  but, you never know...

As brutal as No Escape was, and it was brutal, I don't understand how you can put down todays apes without even seening the movie.  It is obvious that the effects and make-up are leagues above those of the first flick.  Granted in it's time I am sure it was quite the  rollercoaster ride, but the new and improved Apes is sure to blow it away.

So in the importal words of C. Heston of Dtheatre, "Keep your damn comments to yourself, you damn dirty shemp!"

Im not putting down the effects of the film Im quite sure they will be superior to that of 33 years ago.  What is shunning me away from the film will be its content.  Theres more to a film than just special effects.  Let me rephrase that, there should be.  I love good effects, but that shouldnt be all the picture is or the only reason to see it.  If the story is not interesting or offends a viewers intelligence, or the actors involved cant act worth a crap, more than 2/3 of your film is missing.  Just from the previews Ive seen, its not coming off as interesting enough for me.  And isnt that how we decide what we want to see?  If it looks interesting enough for us to put down 7.50 and spend two hours of our lives to watch it....  So far nothing is swaying me that way...

I know a guy that was a extra..an army ape
he said he did six hours of make-up every day, then would shoot for up to eighteen hours..
I don't think the original put that much effort in to it....
besides I read that Tim wanted to try and make it a "new" movie and that some of the "classic" moments from the first on wouldn't be redone..
think of it a a variation on a theme...
not a remake....
and go see it, even though marky mark is in it..
I mean damn, it Tim Burton

The original was just that: original. This is just a remake, the dregs of the motion picture business. Of course over the years, there have been some remakes that were better than the original: "Casablanca", "The Blob", "Thomas Crown Affair", and a very, very few others. Regardless of Burtons vision, and the dope rhymes of Marky Mark, the odds are against this movie surpassing the original. Come August we'll know.

There is no way the remake of Casblanca (I think it was a tv movie with the guy from AIRPORT! ?) was anywhere near the quality of the original).  Although I agree with the overall sentiment of your post.  I tend to avoid remakes and movies with the number 2 in the title.

you are obviously in denial...
now the original lets just say lacked something, its called acting
granted Chuck was in his prime at the time and gave a tremendous performance..but his was the only performance,
what Tim has done is shown another view,
now anything as far as I'm concerned that has been grace to go through Tim Burton's mind has a better chance of being good than 90% of the Sh*te that comes out of hollywood
the fact that Marky is in it detracts from the movie, but I think they made up for it with Tim Roth, who has braved the monkey world
Burton is a twisted and dark man..and wheather we like it or not (personally I do) he is what our culture is going towards, at least in the film industry..
don't get me wrong there will always be plenty or horrible movies for the comsumer market to eat up...
oh ya and the blob and thomas crown affair remakes were much worse than the originals..the blob in particular,n it movies like those that create the attitude you have presented

Charlton Heston may not have been the greatest actor to ever grace the screen, but the original does not lack acting talent.  All the leads in the original were among the best of the 60s and 70s -- Heston, McDowell, and Evans.  No lack of class talent there.  As far as the Thomas Crown Affair, I liked the remake.  But even with its modern effects and superior filming styles, it still preferred the original.  Nothing against Pierce Brosnan, I like him as James Bond, but Steve McQueen made the original film what it is.  Brosnan is good, but he didnt bring the presence to the screen that McQueen did.  McQueen always made his characters distinguishable, I still kept seeing James Bond with Brosnan during the TCA.  The Blob -- well, its always a mistake to make a remake of a bad film.  Even with McQueen in it, the Blob was still just campy 50s fare...

As for myself, I have never been disappointed with any of Tim Burtons films. He is one of the great directors of our time. As far as Mark Walburg, I thought he was good in such films as Boogie Nights And Three Kings. Does anybody remember the reaction everyone had from hearing that Michal Keaton was going to be Batman. I think he'll fit the part just fine. Burton Knows what he's doing.

This isn't a remake.  Tim has stressed that many many times.  It has the same basic premise, but the plot is quite different from the originals.

3 things: 1.Tim Burton is NOT brilliant (look how he screwed up James & the Giant Peach, a great book!, Batman action scenes looked like the dir of photo was stoned) 2.If you think Mark Wahlberg can't act, see "The Yards"
3.This is not just a remake, the story line is very, very different

well I think maybe you should be rosencrantz
you know...vague, confused, not exactly on the ball,
I thought he did a good job on jAMES CONSIDERING IT WAS DISNEY not Tim with creative control, that was the deal he made to make Nightmare
the guy probably was stoned but once again Tim had little control on the movie visually yes, scripting no
no never seen the yards but don't care I know Marky can act he acted like a G-Thug for years before he developed a new persona
and I've been trying to tell these poeple its a different movie for days

The Bolb remake was far superior in everyway, any true Sci Fi fan considers it the greatest remake of all time!

As for this new pile of manure, if they could have gotten half of the acting talent from the first movie, they'd be in a better light. Marky Mark was not the first choice for this role, in fact he was the 6th. Which in Tinsel Town is very often the case. So he sucked in Three Kings, The Yards, BasketBall Diaries, Fear, and that gay movie with Christina Applegate, that does not mean he will suck in this REMAKE. Give Marky Mark a chance.
