Topic: Film Driven Ready to Roll
By Acheron on April 16, 2001 8:08 AM

Renny Harlin and Sylvester Stallone's racing film, Driven, is nearing its release date.  CART.com's Robin Miller reports on the latest of racing films.  The story is kind of race fan oriented, but it's a good read.  Check it out here.

Making of Driven on Speedvision   > reply

Another note, if you'd like to see the making of Driven, then check out Speedvision on Sunday, April 23 at 8:00 PM EST.  Even if the movie sucks (which I don't think it will, but I'm biased), the making of is sure to interest both the race fan and film connoisseur alike.  The cinematography is going to be really great, I can almost guarantee that.

This could be some of that exciting "cheese" everyone is so fond of...with a massive budget of course.

I'm worried it will be plain old "sh*t".

The cinematography looks awesome but the dialogue I've heard so fars seems ridiculously canned.

Lets hope for the best.

All I ask of this movie -- ALL I ASK -- is that it be true to the sport.  Judging by the preview, it's going to be a stretch, but I've heard good things from the CART community, so I'll remain optomistic.  I believe it premieres tonight in LA.  Of course, it opens nationwide next Friday(April 27).

From what I've seen first hand at races, they want to let the viewer understand exactly what its like to drive one of these incredible machines.....however, Stallone is in this movie, so there no guarantee that its not gonna suck.

Sure, Stallone has made some hammy films, but who hasn't? Every actor I can think of has at least one movie I'm sure they wish they didn't do. Sure, he's made movies like "Stop or my mom will shoot",but he also made Rocky and First Blood. A couple of the 10 best movies of their respective years if not the first. I have a soft spot for Sly and wish him nothing but success. P.S. First Blood gets a couple of points knocked off for the ridiculuos sequels.

Stallone driving race cars? Is he going to be sitting on cushions to see over the wheel?

a lot of race car drivers are short.  The points leader for the CART FedEx champion series is like 5'3".

Tall is 6"

Here in the U.K. "Stop, or my Mum will Shoot" is considered one of the greatest films ever produced, we all love it!

So pooh on you

Stallone is a brilliant actor. Here in the UK we don't like to take showers more than once a week, we also don't like deoderant.

As a regular visitor to this site, I'm getting a little annoyed at all you UK faggots posting sh*t comments. If you have nothing constructive to say, shut the hell up.

Typical of the some brits.....not all of them...just a few idiots. Do you suffer from ADHD? Stick to the topics. Anyway, back to the film. We have all seen poorly made films, but did you ever consider the overseas markets? The movie industry isn't an art anymore, that stops once screenplay is converted to a shooting script. It's a business, if it doesn't do well in your area, it will do well elsewhere. I have sold 4 screeplays, called in for two rewrites (not of my own) and collaberated with the brit, Guy Ritchie on SNATCH. I'm now working on a film with a team of students from NYU, and on a 4 million dollar budget, i'm sure some will not oblige. But its overall profits will allow each of these students to gain artistic control on there next projects. I hope they go the indie way, leave the money hungry studio's out of it. That's where our vision is thrown aside, by business men, not artists.
