Work Begun on "Crouching Tiger 2"
By Acheron on March 6, 2001 4:16 PM
(E!) Ang Lee has begun preliminary work on the prequel to his hugely popular film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which has become the top grossing foreign language film of all time.
The prequel will bring back Chow Yun-Fat and Michelle Yeoh.
However, the big obstacle this time seems to be a money issue.
"It would be very expensive; everybody's going to charge me five times as much," Lee tells USA Today. "We got all the equipment for half price. When we went on location, they thought we were a TV crew. That's not going to happen again."
Don't expect this prequel to come out in the near future. Michelle Yeoh has just started her own production company, Mythical Films, in Hong Kong(one reason she didn't take the offer for The Matrix sequels), as well as gathering talent to star in her company's first production, The Touch.
Ang Lee is currently working on an adaptation of The Incredible Hulk comic book, as well as a biopic of the famed escape artist and illusionist, Harry Houdini. Both should be interesting to see. |

I'm curious, could be an awesome movie. I wonder if Chow-Yun Fat is going to finally get some Wu Tan lovin' from beyond the grave.

This movie was the best movie I have seen in a long time!!!!
Seeing as how Chow Yun-Fat passed away in the 1st, I would like to see how creative the story line would be to bring him back ( maybe a spirit guide or something ).
As for Michelle Yeoh starting her own...that's cool! I can't wait to see what she produces.
It's funny, she is the second big Asian name to not appear in the matrix. I wounder if Jet Li pulled out of the Matrix to work with Michelle Yeoh's company?
I predict, in the future, we will be seeing many new movies that will have subtitles.

Should be called 'Crouching tiger, sleeping viewer'.

That "sleeping viewer" comment is a classic. But people, let's just READ the article a little more closely. It's a PREQUEL. Now, as far as I understand it, that means it comes BEFORE the original film. So of course Chow Yun Fat will be in it - still very much alive. Get with the program. With some people it seems a case of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Intelligence"

THEY SHOULD PUT JET LI IN THE PART!!!! HE IS THE ORIGINAL AND THE BEST WUDANG HERO. He was supposed to take the part but turned it down in CTHD. Chow Yun Fat cant do martial arts for sh*t.
