Quote of the day:

"There is a large element of me in every role I do. Actors who say they can dive inside a character are either schizophrenic or lying." -- Bruce Campbell

Topic: Film Golden Globe Results
By Acheron on January 22, 2001 10:55 AM

The Golden Globes have come and gone.  Ridley Scott's Gladiator won big, as expected, bringing home Best Drama and Best Score.  Ang Lee's film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon brought home a few as well, including Best International film and Best Director.  But no film blew the competition away.

Cameron Crowe's autobigraphical film, Almost Famous won best comedy.  Tom Hanks won Best Actor for his role in Cast Away, and George Clooney also picked up an award for his work in the Coen brothers' Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?

As for television, Sex And The City star Sarah Jessica Parker brought home the award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.  Robert Downey Jr. walked away with Best Supporting Actor for his work on Ally McBeal.  He made various references to being in the slammer while on stage.  Hey, at least he's joking about it.

To top off the night, Al Pacino received the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement.  As with any lifetime achievement award, they showcased his work, which included The Godfather and Scarface.
