It seems as if the production team to The Matrix sequels is running into some trouble, according to a report from the New York Post's page six. Recently, Michelle Yeoh (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) was asked if she could play a part in Matrix 2, but unfortunately, she has officially opted out of the deal. On top of that, there are as-yet-unconfirmed rumors that the star Keanu Reeves broke his ankle during training, and if this were true, will obviously set back the production even more.
Yeoh told Page Six, "I'm not going to do The Matrix. I'm a great fan of the Wachowski brothers [directors Andy and Larry], but some things are more important. I just started my own production company, and the filming of it conflicted with my movie [her upcoming action adventure movie The Touch]. I believe it is time to do other things, stories coming from Asia. At the end of the day, you have to do what's really important to you."
Further news from the Guerilla-Film.com Web site, reported a rumor that Warner Brothers may be backing away from its plan to shoot both The Matrix 2 and 3 back to back. Regardless of the outcome, it seems unlikely that the sequels will begin shooting before this year's anticipated writers' and actors' strikes.
