Quote of the day:
"There is a large element of me in every role I do. Actors who say they can dive inside a character are either schizophrenic or lying." -- Bruce Campbell |

Harry Potter filming Pisses Off Students
By Azad on October 27, 2000 10:42 AM
Apparently, students at Oxford University are getting quite pissed off at the filmmakers of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the feature-film version of J.K. Rowling's book. The film is currently being filmed at Oxford, and security guards are reportedly frisking students whenever they approach the top-secret set, according to a report from Empire Online.
"If they see any of us with a camera, they try to confiscate it," a student at Oxford's Christchurch College told Empire Online. "Even if you put your hands in your pockets, they think you're up to something suspicious. It's completely upset life at college--and we don't even get to watch them filming." And I say, to hell with those bloody movie set bastards!
The movie is currently shooting in the college's cloisters, but entrances to the set are blocked by a combination of college and studio security. In other words, it's a bloody Rent-a-Cop combo pack. Filmmakers have also blocked off a lecture room that overlooked filming.

Um, using slang in reviewing international stories can have unwanted side effects. When you say "Apparently, students at Oxford University are getting quite pissed off at the filmmakers of Harry Potter and the
Sorcerer's Stone," it comes across like they're getting free kegs. Pissed being Drunk in that vernacular. Good journalism demands skilfull use of the language, you bleeding git. Cordially, Killbot's pater

With all due respect floater, since EJ said "pissed off," he should be OK, because the British refer to getting drunk as "getting pissed" or "getting pissed up", not "getting pissed off." Good point though...

Everyone else in the world curses in the media... its NORMAL. In fact, I read a few articles in FORTUNE that quotes the phrase "drop shit market" from CEOs and CFOs, etc.

Of course no one was commenting on the use of profanity in the article. Find something better to do with your time instead of embarrassing yourself on the internet.

Breaking the "rules" here . . .
Does anyone know why the movie shows Harry's scar off to the side of his forehead? It seems like a pretty big jump from the text that for something was done with simple makeup.
