  Microsoft Cronies Unveil XBox
  -- Posted by Acheron on 2000-03-10 06:32:02
Yes, the people at Microsoft have officially come out with their new plans. What was once mere speculation, the Xbox, a new gaming console with an 8 gig hard drive, 64 MB RAM, nVidia graphics card, 600 MHz processor, and windows-like OS will be hitting the markets come Fall 2001. Microsoft has not decided on which processor(AMD or Intel) that they will use. Though Microsoft insists the device is not a PC, it, unlike its counterparts, has the most PC-like parts(a name brand processor, hard drive, Ethernet card, and graphics card). Not to worry, they say that they will make sure that the market will be equally beneficial for game designers to develop for both the PC and the Xbox gaming system. Oh how nice. It's good to see that Microsoft is watching out for the developers. The fact that they're entering a market that they shouldn't put one foot in in the first place sickens me. What do you think? You can read more here.

UPDATE: According to CNet, Microsoft will apparently be going with the Intel processor, instead of the AMD processor.
