What makes them think that a modern update of this film needs some kind of 'funky beat' in the theme tune?

I admire Steve Martin's comic ability and have been a fan of his for years. However, even he cannot come close to matching the comic genius that Peter Sellers' gave to the role of Closeau. Sadly, the movie trailer reveals this to be true. They should have left the series alone.
And where is Kato? The Closeau-Kato fights were always a highlight of the original films. It appears that the PC police may have gone too far.

This is a really bad idea!!! The trailer alone was almost unbearable, I can't even imagine what the actual film will be like.
Better if Martin had done a film that paralleled the idea of the Pink Panther rather than trying to copy it altogether. Best to leave a peice of comic genius as is, and do something original of your own.

This movie looks freakin' halarious! Like when he's cutting a hole in the glass and the whole thing breaks except for the bit he's holding! So original!

I can't believe there doing another Pink Panther... I LOVE the original... no way this one can even come close to how amazing they were... *sigh*... Hollywood should know when to leave well enough alone!
