French media site, Allocine has the first trailer from Gus Van Sant's (Drugstore Cowboy, My Own Private Idaho, Good Will Hunting) flick, Last Days. ?Loosely based on the last days of Kurt Cobain, the film stars Leo-look-a-like Michael Pitt, who looks a hell of a lot like Cobain here.

Kim Gordon from 'Sonic Youth' is in the film? Does she play the lead's mother? It's great that she is in it and condones the film, being that her band was the first to expose Nirvana to the general census. Hope Thurston is in it also?

No it's not a French film. Last Days was conceived during the filming of Elephant by Portland native director Gus Van Sant. It was shot in Portland, OR and New York. The French seem to have an affinity for Gus' films (see: Elephant ).
I did some work on this film and a think it's going to be very similar to Elephant and true to Gus' recent style of experimental film (ala Gerry, Elephant, etc..). It's definately along the same veins in that it's a loosely based on a true story.

I'm so Happy this film is coming out this summer I can't wait to see it I've been fallowing it ever since they were announcing its filming and I'm so happy they got Michael Pitt to play a character based Kurt Cobain they are both two really great Guy's and it just so happens Michael is my favorite actor and Kurt was one of my fave singers and to have Mike portraying him is mind blowing!

I think it's good they took a guy who didn't look too much like kurt, otherwise it would be too real and the movie would be too powerful. Now there's a distance between the movie and the real story of kurt.

I've just recently found out about the film and I'm a fan of Kurt's, so of course I have high expectations of "Last Days" but after viewing the trailer I found one of the major drawbacks so far is the choice of music...it's terrible. It reminds me of a whinier less-admirable version of Radiohead. I can only hope they've put all their hard work and energy into the script, because if the film is as distasteful as the music then this surely is a nauseating period of time in Kurt Cobain history...possibly even more nauseating then Courtney Love herself...

It's kinda wierd I had a dream last night about me and Kurdt hanging out playing X-Box, Smoking, Playing guitar, driving around...um...then later on we both shot ourselves...wierd ending I know, but I don't think Kurdt would want a movie out about him because all he wanted to do was put out a few records so he could afford some Mac & Cheese, not to be famouse. Ofcourse the fans want a movie though, because we want Kurdt to be remembered, this movie better not suck.

Your beliefs on the Kurt Cobain "suicide or not" issue need to be put elsewhere. I could care less if you think Courtney blasted his brains on the wall or not. Don't spam a poor hopeless website. It's unfair to the readers and let's face it, the website. Die.
The movie looks good. I heard shit reviews on it, but i'd like to decide for myself. Gus Van Sant is an artsy film kind of guy. Hence he's an independent film director. The movie has little dialogue and no real plot. But, I think that gives it a more appealing look.
So, if you're expecting to be handed some relation with a character through dialogue, make your own movie. I think the movie is kind of a test-your-empathy-esque type deal. And most people are apathetic assholes.
None the less, enjoy.

P.s. Keep it in perspective. This movie isn't ABOUT Kurt Cobain, it is just based upon his "Last Days". If it were, i'm pretty sure they'd have Michael Pitt play some Nirvana. Though, the music is similar in a "Something In The Way" uh, way. It's raw and the tone shows depression. So there. HA!
