Topic: News SKY CAPTAIN trailer and MORE!
By Charley on July 15, 2004 11:13 PM

The new Jude Law and Angelina Jolie film, "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow," hits theaters September 17, but you can watch the trailer and an exclusive battle scene clip online right now.  Also, download and play the FREE game, "Join the Resistance."

"Sky Captain" tells the story of Joe Sullivan (Jude Law), a sky captain summoned to save 1939 New York City from giant flying robots.  Complete with that 1939 quasi-futuristic feel.  Sound cool?  I doubt it.  But watch the trailer and decide for yourself.

"Sky Captain" was written and directed by newcomer Kerry Conran.  Gwyneth Paltrow costars alongside Jude Law and Angelina Jolie.

Allow me to elaborate –

If a movie scores Jude Law, it immediately gains credibility. The actor has a virtually untarnished record. Thus, he cannot afford a box office bomb at this near pinnacle in his career. His agent obviously knows this and likely picks jobs for Jude after much research and thorough analysis.

Furthermore, the movie seems to have remarkable special effects and a cozy, comic book-like appeal, despite its hints of mass destruction and chaos.

In tandem, these elements lead to my predication: It looks awesome.

I've heard alot of people complaining about this film by saying that as it's completely CGI apart from the actors then it's going to be as crap as The Phantom Menace. I think the difference is that in TPM Lucus was trying to make it look realistic whereas in this movie the CGI is meant to lend it a comic book style feel.

I think this movie skycaptain is gonna be great!! I love aerial dogfight movies like tuskeegee airmen and other movies in that genre. I'll love the 1930s comic book feel!

It reminds me of The Rocketeer and I loved that film.
