Rocky VI:  Stallone takes it on the chin from MGM

"It seems like we have most people on board for the next 'Rocky' film," Sylvester Stallone told the Chicago Sun-Times in 2003.   MGM studios recently announced, however, that there will be no Rocky VI in the foreseeable future, despite the completed script that studio executives tapped Stallone to write.

MGM owns the rights to "Rocky," and they plan to keep it that way--a problem for Stallone, who wants to sell his script to another studio if MGM will not produce it.  Stallone is contemplating legal action, a move that may produce good publicity for his upcoming NBC reality boxing television show, "The Contender."

But MGM has its own guns.  The company announced that they plan to watch Stallone's show closely, making sure that their "Rocky" copyright is not infringed upon.  Meanwhile, sources are reporting that MGM plans to release their own reality boxing show.  Many news agencies are reporting that MGM may use the well-known Rocky franchise--including the Oscar-winning music from the first movie--to promote their show.

If Stallone wants the film to get made he needs to stay hungry.  It might be that the worse thing that could have happened to an actor has happened to him  he got civillised.  Anyway whats my prediction I predict pain.

If Stallone wants this film made bad enough then sooner or later it's going to happen.

MGM needs to wake up and realize that Rocky Vi is a good Idea. There are so many rocky fans, including myself, who would love to see the old man in the ring one more time. I could not see more than 6 though.

MGM should should give Stallone the power to produce the sixth installment. It's phenomenon waiting to explode.  It is well over due.  It will give the new generation a chance to be part of history.

MGM is stupid, why don't they realize that another they would profit from another Rocky movie?  I don't know anyone who doesn't like the Rocky movies. I have been hoping for a new one for years, I can't believe they would let people down like that.  Stallone has to figure out a way to fix this and give us another movie!  :)

The only problem is that I thought Rocky would get brain damage if he fought another fight. anyway the rocky films were the rise and fall of rocky.
Nonetheless rocky is qualers and I would go to see it.

Stallone should pull a Rambo, cut through all the bs, and kick the crap out of the folks at MGM.

I'm a huge Rocky fan but even I have to admit that the last two films stunk pretty bad. I mean, the fight at the end of IV was alright but that was about it and V was just total crap. If a part VI is made then it's going to need to be something special.

Rocky was based loosely on the story of Chuck Wepner...If Stallone wants to use Foreman's story as a source for Rocky 6, it would definitely be reasonable because it has been done...BRING BACK ROCKY for a 6th movie

 RE: Rocky VI   > reply
Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on May 11, 2004 7:58 AM

They could have a story where he enters some kind of legendary, underground fighting tornament like Mortal Kombat but without the supernatural stuff, that would be total quailers!

 RE: Rocky VI   > reply
Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on May 11, 2004 8:07 AM

Now Mortal Combat that was a Quality film if you wanted a laugh.  Infact fuck it just show Mortal Combat again but with extra scenes to include Rocky and throw in Pat Sharp as well cos if he ever regrows his mullet he will be invincible.
On a scale of 1 to 10 that would actually be the best film ever.

1 more rocky?  why?  no one needs another rocky movie.  what we need instead is a movie about people who have tails and the troubles they go through each day hiding their tails under their clothing, especially with the new fad of low pants that allow thongs to show.  how do you hide a tail under that?  you'd totally be able to see the bump.  anyway, rocky doesn't have a tail and in the new movie they can't all of a sudden give him a tail because people just wouldn't believe it.

 RE: Puh'leeze!   > reply
Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on May 12, 2004 5:06 PM

Hold on, Hold on,
The movie is this: Rocky starts training a guy with a tail, however the guy becomes so good at fighting that he is summoned to a tournament to compete for the survival of humanity thus including a Mortal Combat theme thus creating the most awsome film ever to be created Mwhaaaahaaahaa ahaaaahaaahaahahaha    Bwahaaaahaaahaahahaha ahem  Mwhaaahaaahaaaha etc etc

I just read this article from the hollywoodreporter.

"Actor Sylvester Stallone sued Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and a production company, claiming they stymied his efforts to make a sequel and Broadway musical based on the "Rocky" film franchise. The suit filed Thursday in Los Angeles County Superior Court seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages against the studio and the production company. It also seeks an order allowing Stallone to proceed with a "Rocky VI" film. "He looks at litigation as the very of very last resorts," attorney Gerald Margolis said of Stallone, his client. "It means he's extremely sad, disappointed and put out by all of this." (AP)"

Hopefully he wins the suit and MGM is ordered to not stop him from producing Rocky VI.

This message is for MGM. Read this jackoffs! Let Stallone make Rocky VI so the damn series can finally be ended right. He only made you all millions of dollars. So what if Stallone is 57, it's just a movie and it needs to be done one last time while people still care and will pay good money to see it,morons! If you wait another year, half the fans probaly will give up on it. It's now or never. Time's running out for the old man.

ok, all of you will   probably agree with me when i say that the ROCKY series was one of the greatest series ever (with the exception of ROCKY V), but the key word here is WAS. I love Rocky, ever since I saw him drop Apollo Creed in the first or second round in the first film. But that was a long time ago. ROCKY V was a bust and i dont think a ROCKY VI is a very good idea. Let it go.

Everyone likes the Rocky films they are classics. And i say bring back a classic, make another film i have been wishing for one ever since i saw Rocky V. The story is, that Rocky is forced to fight one last time due to becoming bankrupt. It has been said that vin diesel mite take the bad boxers character, that would also be great, two legends in one ring. Come on Stallone make the film!

For MGM:
Sly Stallone has made you plenty of money you stupid motherfuckers!  What the fucking hell is your problem.  Let him make the last movie.  Plenty of people would like to see it.  It's sad that the law would protect your lousy asses.  If not for Stallone there never would have been rocky.  If he wants to make another one, you shouldn't have much of a say in the matter motherfuckers.

MGM should reconsider there decision on the making of Rocky VI. The series needs a finale better than Rock V. The idea Stallone has for Rocky VI is brilliant and will do well if made right. America needs heros right now and Rocky Balboa is truly an American hero.

MGM heres an idea   > reply

Rocky Balboa trys to save the the local youth program which is being closed due to George Washington Duke who wants to build expensive apartments. It's his way of getting back at Rocky for punching him at the end of V. With the knowledge that Duke is involved, Rocky decides to put on the gloves. But in this movie forget about the Geoge Forman story. Rocky should be only 45 in this 44in this movie to make it realistic and Stallone looks like a 40 year old and that would pass with the fans. Add another Rocky Jr. and make him the same age as in Rocky V so they can set the movie back in 1990.

I am sure no companys will turn it down because they know it would make a grand amount of money. I love the rocky films every film was top class and another one i beg for.Pleeeeeease!

I think Sly should do another ROCKY, but it should be INSPIRATIONAL!

1. DO NOT kill off Adrian -- she's the heartbeat that keeps it going!
2. Let's get the Balboas out of Philly -- after all, it's been a lifetime!  (I left NY for CA -- why can't this character think outside the box?)
3. Let's reach beyond ourselves, Sly!!  Think, think!!  Or should I say: FEEL! FEEL!!...

Go for it, dude... and if that don't work, hey, I got the SCRIPT!  Give me a call!
