Five adult movie stars have tested positive for HIV in the last month, with as many as 50 potentially infected, according to the associated press. This is the Porn Industry's first HIV scare since all the way back in 1999.The source of the adult film HIV outbreak has been traced back to male porn star Darrin James. In March, James shot a film in Brazil, where experts agree he must have contracted HIV. Since he tested positive in April, four more porn stars have tested positive and 50 more have been placed on quarantine pending negative test results.
The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) said that it will take at least two months to clear the actors on the quarantine list. Though the list is very specific, most of the rest of the porn industry has decided to wait until June 8 to resume their projects as well.
Consumers need not worry, however--the cache of existing porn films combined with the uninterrupted service of strip clubs, adult movie theatres, and brothels should help bridge the lapse caused by the two month production halt.
