You really don't have aclue about anything outside America do you?
Lets have a look at the obvious ones your going to consider.
Ireland. No they are quite Independant (the Republic of Ireland remember?)
Canada because its in the Commonwealth yeah well the Commonwealth doesn't do anything these days really so once again your wrong.

And as for your personal freedoms to own guns and thus high crime rates well your wrobg first people can own guns in Britain but there heavily liscenced.

Hand guns are banned and lets see oh yes we have one of the lowest gun crime rates in the world behind other countries who have banned guns, what a surprise no guns legally means few shootings who would have thought it....

Heard of Dunblane, some twat shot a load of kids in a school in England and since then hand guns have been banned has it happened since. No.
