I bet Lucas promised him he'd get to direct an episode of the new TV show if he agreed to cream his load all over Revenge of the Sith.

Kevin Smith Blows... the fat uncreative bastard is as bad a director as Lucas... they deserve eachother... go make babies together you losers. That way their uncreative spawn will make more shitty films that will suck balls, and they'll have to go and kill themselves... that'll be funny.

I don't understand all the venom related to the last 2 movies.
Lets start with my background-
I saw the original SW in theaters 125 times. Empire I saw 85 times and Return 75 times.
Am I the only person who remembers thinking that "Star Wars" was a goofy name as was "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi"?
The original trilogy was full of excrutiatingly bad dialogue and even worse acting. The only one of the originals that actually qualifies as a good movie was Empire but thats because of who wrote it.
The last 2 movies have also had bad names, dialogue (come on, how many times does the phrase "In Time" have to be used?) and painfull acting.
To wit, the last 2 movies were just as bad as the first 2 movies.
That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy them. I just accepted them for what they were-formulaic space operas that were never meant to be analyzed to death by uber-geeks who think they should have a say into what Lucas does. So everyone should get over it, stop bitching about how bad the last 2 movies were and enjoy them at face value.
Now, having said that let me have all the flames, just try and make them somewhat literate.

Star Wars, Empire and Return were all very good movies. The writing and cutsey little ewoks kept them from being taken beyond a Sci-fi realm, but they were otherwise fantastic. The new movies thus far suck, and Lucas knows why as its been hammered into his brain by the media, his fans, even the Simpsons...
Hopefully Sith will break the mold and surprise us all.

Is anyone goin to see all the films at once.

|
Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on May 3, 2005 12:44 PM
Most of us real geeks made it a "Status" thing to see who could claim the most viewings in the theater.
You have to remember, in 1977 there was no video market as VHS and Betamax were in their infancy. So the only way you could get your fill of a movie was to see it as many times as possible.
And, yes I was also pretty loaded.

Are they shown um all at once? Thats such a rip off of LOTR. Its all about Trilogy Tuesday 2003 bitches!

|
Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on May 4, 2005 4:16 AM
No they didn't my young padawan. Episodes 4 5 and 6 were shown back to back in cinemas around 1984/85 cos i went to see them.
|
|
|
Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on May 4, 2005 7:38 AM
The idea of showing them all in a row? If they did that it would be such a blatent ripoff of LOTR because there's noway anyone else could come up with that.

Theres nothin wrong with it. If the fans are willing to sit through over 12 hours of star wars, then whats the problem.
|
|
|
Posted by A random shemp (No Email) on May 4, 2005 6:49 PM
Just as LOTR is also 12 hours...I guess thats cool but Ep.III would be right in the middle and then you gotta sit through the rest of the saga youve seen a thousand times...

On the 16th of May in London they're showing all 6 movies in a row. I think they're showing IV, V, VI and then I, II, III so that Revenge of the Sith is the climax of the day. I also heard that George Lucas and some of the actors would be there.

I think they're having it on the same day as the Premiere and that's why Episode III is the last one to be shown in the marathon because it has to be shown in the cinema across the street first for the official premiere which George Lucas will probably be at.

Well, we all now know who woke up on the wrong side of the uncreative pile of garbage you call a life. I'll bet that you are one of those guys who, at 35 thinks that it's still really cool to hang out at the high school parties. Thank God there aren't too many of you out there to totally screw up this already unimaginative world. You should be kissing the butt of people like Kevin Smith and G. Lucas for creating something so wonderful so that you have something to do while your sitting on your behind imprinted couch scratching yourself on a lonely Saturday night. That's why they make the millions and you're still asking "would you like fries with that?" ps. If I were you I would sterilize myself. Have a nice day.

I had the displeasure of seeing ep3 at 12am 5/18/05; this morning. I expected much more from the last of the trilogy. Every line was diluted and over done 5 years ago. Sure, sure, there were explosions and bright lights, but something was missing, some feeling I am unable to discribe. Most of it i feel lies with Skywalkers acting skills. Maybe casting will be more important in the mind of G.L. next time around.

Great Movie!
Personally, I thought it bested the previous 5. Reasons? It showed the Emperor dueling, revealing his physical prowess - that was different. I also thought it creative to pit Yoda against him. They did a great job on the tempo. The fight scenes were creative and fast, rivaling anything Hong Kong kicks out, Flexing a little US muscle. Being a martial artist myself, I seriously appreciated that aspect of the film.
I also appreciated the romance factor and how that can be a motivator in ones decisions; how its not always clear what is the best or right choice to make.
I think it made a decent attempt at showing the internal struggles for all involved and how ONE persons decisions can spill over into everyone elses lives, causing pain. Very realistic.
I also liked how they pre-dated the look of ships like the Star Destroyers and X wings giving it that vintage feel.
All around this movie was a visualfeast.
In addition, anyone who allows themselves to be drawn into this movie, who has experienced internal conflict, the hurt associated with love, or the betrayal of a friend, will enjoy a much richer experience.
I had a great time! May the force be with you all!

Pay closer attention, I wrote "It bested", a real term, not "It was the bestest". That was your phrase professor. There were other real gramatical errors however. Can you pick them out? The military may be able to help with your lack of attention to detail.

There's one mistake, how can you be a martial artist if you're too fat to even get up from your computer screen.

I'm not fat, I'm Special. I wear on olive drab tab with black lettering on my left shoulder that says so. Sometimes it's blue and gold. You probably don't know what that means though.
I often sit down to my computer to check emails and do homework. You probably do it to visit your CGI girlfriend, and imagine yourself living someone else's life.
Are you a part of that Jedi religion started in Australia I heard rumors about?

Bad Actors, Good Special Effects

Personally, I thought the movie rocked. Great special effects, decent story... A little too many light saber fights, but hey, what do expect from star wars?
However, I do think the actors sucked. The dialogue was terrible, and yoda (although adorable ^_^) really got on my nerves.
But the bad acting was made up for by the special effects... And haydn's christiansans looks.
Hey, I would have paid 10.50 just to see his face plastered on a 50 foot screen. Yum.
