J.J. ABRAMS Set To Make Over STAR TREK!

Hollywood has a new boyfriend. J.J. Abrams, director of the new Mission Impossible 3 flick (hailed by Aintitcool head-bitch Harry Knowles as the new True Lies) and co-creator of TV's Lost, Alias, and What About Brian, has a deal in the works to direct a new Star Trek flick. This one would start the series over (as earlier planned, then abandoned) at Starfleet Academy. A sort of a Smallville for the Trekkies, but on film, not on the small screen. Click on for more.

REVIEW: JJ Abrams' MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3, 2nd Review Added!

Harry Knowles of Aintitcool saw the flick last night (a print was flown to Austin to be shown to him in Austin - must be nice to be a pampered geek). He loved the pic and thinks it's a better version of James Cameron's True Lies (this is meant to be a huge compliment). He also says he thinks JJ Abrams rocked it totally hard and stuff and that we get to see Cruise take a serious beating (something everyone wants these days). So there's that. On Set X-MEN 3 Featurette Online

Maybe this schlockbuster will surprise the peoples and be great and maybe it won't and the negative geeks (a few live here at the D) will rejoice in their smarter-than-you-are dudeness. So here's more from the PR department at Fox, something that would have only appeared on the DVD pre-web-buzz-building days. Alas. Click on.

2ND REVIEW: Another Solid UNITED 93 Review!

The Hollywood Reporter's Kirk Honeycutt ends his review with this line, "In years to come, United 93 may enter our mythology in ways unimaginable. But for now, we have a starting point. "United 93" is a sincere attempt to pull together the known facts and guesses at the emotional truths as best anyone can. Then, in the movie's final moments, the impact of the heroism aboard United 93 becomes startlingly clear." Click on for the entire review another just like it.

SNEAK REVIEW: 1st 911 Flick UNITED 93 Is Strong?

Yep. That's what one reviewer has reported back to the aintitcool freaks. United 93, (was called Flight 93 in its first trailer) directed by Paul Greengrass (Bourne Supremacy) and centering on that doomed flight that hit the field in Pennsylvania, sounds like it could be a damn solid piece of work (not the usual crappy, overdramatic Hollywood treatment). Click on to read on and to see the trailer.
