TEAM AMERICA Angers White House
By Charley on August 2, 2004 12:46 PM
White House officials are not laughing about the new comedy "Team America," according to The Drudge Report. The new movie by Trey Parker and Matt Stone ("South Park") pokes fun at terrorism. "I really do not think terrorism is funny, and I would suggest Paramount give respect to those fighting and sacrificing to keep America safe," said a senior Bush administration official. Trey Parker had this to say: "I would ask that people wait and see it, before passing a judgement." But pre-emptive judgment seems to be this administration's pop culture policy--just ask Michael Moore.
The film's trailer and synopsis can be seen here.
"Team America" is scheduled to hit theaters two weeks before the November presidential election.

This film looks like another one straight out of the smoking pits of Hell, just like South Park the Movie. May God have mercy upon us.

If you cant see that the movie was more slanted toward the Bush supporters than you need to get out more. I understand that the creators "tried" to make fun of everyone, but they could have tried a little more. Very pro-Bush.

I think you all need to realize this is a MOVIE....Nothing more. In no way does it glorify terrorism. If anything it makes terrorists look like homosexual idiots. Thats funny....nothing more. If your looking for hidden messages, pro-Bush/Pro-Keryy, then take your head out of your ass! Its a movie made by the creators of south park.....SOUTH PARK! Do me a favor and shut the hell up because your looking for pro-shit in a comedy that uses puppets.

Yes, this is JUST a movie!
I'm in the military myself, and have friends who went or presently in Iraq to fight. Whenever I chat with them, which isnt often, we try to have some humor about it to lighten these dark, difficult times.
I enjoyed the movie and I love the way that they made fun of those outspoken liberalist actors - esp. Michael Moore, who I personally think is a bastard who doesn't know anything about honor. I'm sure Trey and Matt didn't intend to make the movie 'glorify terrorism'. Hell, to me they seemed that they're all about kicking some terrorist ass!
Sometimes you just have to laugh about the touchy, difficult things. Not because you want to offend or show that you don't care. It's because if you don't laugh a little bit, you'll lose a part of yourself.
