Topic: Dtheatre.com DTheatre.com The Site Where Readers Choose
By Jack on February 21, 2002 11:27 AM

Seriously guys, when you've got 2 jobs, running a site like this alone becomes more and more difficult. I can hardly do it anymore. I need your help.

Today I'd like to get suggestions from any of you out there that have an idea for a feature you think you would like to see on this site. I'd like to see this site run itself. Whether it be with open forums the ability for anyone to write a story or a chat room I'm interested in hearing your suggestions.

Soo.. Post away.

I'd also like to extend a special thanks to all of our faithful readers and regular posters.

- Jack

I believe that would be a great idea. I would love to be able to take the movie critic approach.

If any of you would like to post articles on here send me an email explaining why you won't be a troll and I'll give you access.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort you put in, and it's gotta be draining to put in x amount of hours on it each week. Are you not making anything back from ads?

If you're asking for permission to make this site nothing but a big messageboard, I'd be against it, and I don't know that it'll fly anyway. Web is filled with several such sites. What distinguishes this site is that someone uses an editorial eye to scour sources for slightly off-the-mainstream news features. I'd like to see that continue. Whether you open the floor to others to post stuff like that, in a non-messageboard format, is up to you.

I'm a little wary of an effort to have this site "run itself". What that usually means is a non-moderated message board that quickly becomes overrun with trolls and becomes pointless to visit.

Chat room. Nice one. About reviews from the regulars, it could be good too.

It's been quite a while since I regularly posted...for much of the same reason Jack posted this story.

I just want to say thanks to all of our readers, and especially to those who have recently been posting the majority of these articles.

Posted by The Original Shemp (Daddy-O@shempsrule.com) on February 23, 2002 12:32 PM

I have to agree that the site got to be as popular as it is based on the stories you post. The conversations, arguements and/or rants were usually a result of those stories. As a message board or chat room, it's quite honestly is not going to have the same appeal.

I'd hate to see the site go, but it's evident that you have less and less time to spend on it. My only thought is to "hire" some regular contributors, which is easy to say not knowing the revenues of the site, if any. I suspect that's the only way it'll go forward. The site seems to have enough hardcore regulars that you should be able to find people among is in a several different areas of entertainment.

Hope you can find a workable solution as this has always been a favorite site.

Thanks.

THIS IS A JOKE

I'd like to see more porn. And a "Click Here to Hit Danny Stoltz With a Baseball Bat" button. It could work kinda like the button on The Hunger Site...

Yo Jack, I dig the site. I think you put a lot of time and effort into it. There are not many webbies who do that!

To make this site a chat room would be a mistake. People come here because they do not enjoy sitting in chat rooms all day long. A suggestion would be to kick skullfire and jet-li off the site, so that people like me would return more often. I enjoy a site with a serious content. Skullfire and jet-li don't even know what serious is! Think about it, it's sad when people don't take your hard work seriously.

If I were to add a chatroom (which I think I will do) it would not be a main feature.. and it would hopefully keep the flamings (there are a lot of people who like those and come here for that) centralized in their section of the site while readers (like you and I) who are serious about the content can read through film reviews and news with less crap and flamings etc..

Yo Jack, good call! Go for it sez I. This is probably a better suggestion than mine. Instead of needing to "police" the site, giving the less serious people a day-care-center (chat room) is a damn good solution.

Skullfire and Jet-Li, if you guys read this, I've got nothing against you personally, it just yanks my chain when people use a serious site to wave their d1cks at each other. Grow up or shut up!

Then again, it's pretty much been Jet, Skully, and those other clowns that have been doing 99% of the feedback. People like you critize, but it's thanks to them that it's gone this far. I have yet to see any chat site that is completley serious.

I agree.  Dtheatre is a place for losers like Jet Li, 100% and Power-trip to come and express their prejudices without getting beaten up.  If it wasnt for Dtheatre there would be a lot more crime in the world.
Its like why prostitution is a functionalist service.  Without it there would be a lot more sex crimes in the world therefore it continues to thrive not only in todays society but for as long as time can remember.
So Jack, you should be happy that you are helping buttheads like these guys by providing them with an outlet for their inadequacies and insecurities to be aired without someone getting killed.  :)
Go Jack! Nobel Peace Prize Candidate for the millenium!

Yo Shemp, I agree about the amount of feedback, but ............ this is not a chatsite. I have read a number of comments from these people and they seem to be talking to each other instead of posting comments to the articles. I come here to read comments, not read other peoples chat. I think Jack has put a lot of hard work into this site, I think he deserves some respect!

Wow, I have not heard ass slurping like that since my last movie premire. Your a lucky man, Jack. If you guys really feel the way you do, then you should become registered users, and also help Jack out, by donating good subjects. Make fun a myself, Power Trip, and the others if you will, but until you register your not helping anyone.

Often-time the subject matter turns into flame wars or chats, because there are so few registered users to post. Some time ago, while I was under the moniker of "Mr. Li", Jack and Acheron asked several users not to engage in flame wars and only to engage with other registered users, I have tried to stick to these guide lines, but it's difficult when there are less than a dozen regular registered voices sharing their opinions. Perhaps in time there will be more. Hiyaaa!!

Yo Jet-Li, upon reflection it seems to be that you have indeed done as they asked. I appologise. Can I in that case ask you nicely to try and keep to the articles? (It makes reading on this site much more fun). I promise I will register if I decide to continue using the site.

I do take Jack's work seriously. Although the flame wars gone too far sometimes (we got carried on, I admit that), also sometimes the subjects (not for dtheatre's fault, of course) are a little boring by itself, or doesn't have too much to say about it. Besides, if you give free speech to people, and when some topics are more than movie talk, it could go in several directions. Anyway, we all thanks Dtheatre staff's work, because it allow us to express ourselves, about a certain subject, or not. I think you'll find many people that would help on the site, myself included.

Random Shemp:

I will try my best to refrain from my infatuation with young boys and so forth, however your message should be aimed toward the real culprits: users & non users alike such as: tiny, red, union jackie, mets fan, loath, power trip, fred hater, antitiny, bexley, skullfire (Tim Fitzgerald), spidershemp, the shemp union, 100 american, twan, scifi guy, froggy, undead chick, dyan, felix, darth gandolf, pumpkin dork, Loath, south american shemp, Shemp nazi, and that guy that was calling everybody "child". They are much bigger culprits than I, the worlds greatest martial arts movie star. All the same...I will try.  Hiyaaa!

Shut up 100% American (Jet Li) You are the biggest A$$H0LE this site has ever seen.  You or Jet Li or whoever you decide to pose as are the biggest reason for flame wars.  Molesting children is not a funny subject even though it has probably happened to you its no excuse using it as an escape on Dtheatre.
Nothing that random shemps or registered users post is as bad as joking about a child having his whole life taken away by paedophiles like you. Trying to shift the label of racism, prejudice, homosexuality, paedophilia or bad humor on others by naming them wont fool anyone but yourself. Get your ethics right idiot!

However, I take the label of Bin Laden as a compliment, he bombed the sh*t out of your ass hole nation, and taught your f*ckers a little something. Either way, it doesn't matter. I'm just one of thousands of shemps that hate people like you that bash gays every chance they get. I'm gay, and damn proud of it! Sorry Jet Li.  Didnt mean to hurt your feelings.  Im not Bin Laden or a Muslim, Im Catholic but.... I still dont like you.
I know it must be hard not having any friends but take comfort in the fact that there are others like you, they are called losers and you are their King.  That should make you feel better but if it doesnt I can tell you where Bin Laden is hiding so you can go shove a nuke up his ass with all the courage you have.  That should alleviate some of your social and sexual frustration, but the fact will remain that you are a putz and all the terrorist bashing in the world cant save you.

My condolences,

And yes I will watch your movies.

I'm gay, and as you can imagine in my religion that makes things very difficult for me. I also enjoy molesting children just like you Jet Li, so perhaps thats why I, Osama Bin Laden, loudmouth coward of all non registered users dispise you so much, or perhaps it's cause I saw you and power trip nailing my mom. You were doing mom doggy style, then turned her over and yet i couldn't shut my eyes cause i was so attracted to her. Do you know what it is like to be a catholic and want to nail your own mother. Obviously I too am a loser just like you Mr. Li, I know why you are always dissing the USA, and I think my sexual feelings for my Mom bond us in many ways. Perhaps like me, you too are freindless, and perhaps you too like to stick catholic crosses in your ass hole and moan and groan, anyway the fact of the matter is that I am a loser just like you Jet Li.

Nice try jet Li.  You really think you are smart and that you can even get laid?  I guess your condition is further gone than I could imagine.  Once again my condolences my friend-less geek.
Please dont fall back on your words and post as a random shemp Jet Li, it makes you a hypocrite among all the other useless things you are.
And please dont piss Bin Laden off by saying all these things about him, I wouldnt want him to blow another hole in our great nation.  First we must find him and then only diss him.
Thats where you come in Mr Retard REDneck.  Since you are the most patriotic piece of dung this magnificent country can spare it is up to you to hunt him down and jaffa him up the ass.  You are the chosen "One".  Please go with our blessings and fulfill your patriotic, racist words and please... dont come back.
Please refrain from talking about incest, child molestation was bad enough but now you are talking about another fetish of yours that nobody really wants to hear about.  Seek therapy Elephant man.

Hmmmm, yellow snow...... As Guru F.Zappa once said, "Watch out where the huskies go and don't you eat that yellow snow". (Sorry about that, I thought it was hysterically funny when I wrote it..... prehaps I was a bit tired).
