Teletubbies Promote Obesity, Says Expert
By Jack on March 20, 2001 11:08 AM
(SB)The chief medical officer of a British insurance company has warned that the Teletubbies may be sending children the message that it is acceptable to be fat. As reported by Britain's Independent Television News, Dr. Gavin Frost of the MBF medical insurance company told an Australian forum on nutrition: "The question is whether these unfortunately named characters are helping to entrench messages that being fat and jolly are attributes to aspire to." Frost went on to warn that children in Australia, Britain and the U.S. face an epidemic of obesity, with some children showing signs of fatty deposits in their aortas by the time they are four.

There are alot more problems in the world to day to worry about teletubbies promoting obesity! This person needs to wash his car!

And let's not forget, while we're at it, that it's absolutely NOT acceptable to be fat. Not in the slightest. We must all look like Callista Flockhart, no matter how unhealthy we are. We must ignore our own body's needs, bone size, genetic makeup, and predisposition. And how dare some television show for children come along and portray pot-bellied characters in a positive light. They should be ashamed of themselves. Shame on all shows that show people who are slightly less than "perfect" as normal.
Do these "experts" really have lives, I wonder? And if they do, just what planet do they live on?

Teletubbies is inventive and intelligent television. It promotes a refreshing innocence, an appreciation and reverence for life and is good, clean fun. It is, at the very least, a benign phenomenon. The "experts" who lobbed this inane study at us are teleidiots.

Teletubbies don't make people fat, food and a sedentary, slothful lifestyle makes people fat.
Don't try that "you just want me to be skin and bones" tripe. People just don't want to see you hard breathing, shuffling, sweating whiny fat a**es.
Try this diet you disgusting pigs.
Breakfast:
Toast (1 slice not 7), orange juice, grapefruit, glass of milk, coffee
Lunch:
Salad (mixed greens, carrots, celery, brocc., tomato) and a 1/2 can of tuna for lunch, with 2 tbsp low fat dressing (no bacon bits and crap) Glass of Water (Diet soda is for fat asses when you lose all that lard reward yourself with a real soda now and then)
Dinner:
One chicken breast, a small potato and a side of vegetables.
Cookie (1 or 2 not 15)or a scoop (scooper not a shovel) of ice cream for dessert.
Drink water all day.
Go for a half hour walk right after work.
Do this for a year. You won't be sick all the time, you'll feel better about yourselves, you'll live longer, people will like you and I won't get sick looking at your layers of gelatinous disgusting flab.

I love it your'e right on target. When I see obese people, I get so disgusted. It is not acceptable at all. I am tired of standing on the bus, because some fat ass has to take up two. Accept that this is a problem and go on a diet. you don't have to be skin and bones, but once you can't fit into a bus or plane seat, you got a BIG problem. AND it grosses many people out

Hey Denny,
I noticed that you pulled my reply. It was the vulger reply to the guy created a diet for fat people. He also was very rude using equally offensive talk yet his comments are still there. Or how about the comment in the "Girl Guide Cookie" story who talked about smashing in the skulls of little girls. I guess that type of talk does not warrant censorship. So why do you censor some stuff, but not other stuff?
What gives?

Jeeeez! What a bunch of Grinchy jerks! Let the little kids have the kind of stuff they like on television. Barney and the teletubbies irritate me but I don't watch them. They are a positive influence on them and in the world today, maybe a little of that is a good thing. If you don't like it, here is a sugggestion. DO NOT WATCH IT! And leave the little ones something they enjoy. Cripes, what a bunch of crapola

You know kids love fat lil stuffed animals! What is wrong with this picture! Winnie the Pooh??? Who is fat? Give me a break, you know kids who have fat parents grow up loving them just as much as the skinny ones. It isn't until peer pressure and the teasing comes in to play that a child starts to feel that they are unacceptable in the world. Then and only then do the kids have to start defending themselves and loved ones against the world outside of there home. Where they should be learning love, trust, honesty, and good values above all.
I pray the lord helps those parents who don't censor what their children watch. From the lips of other parents children I have heard they are told to go watch tv over a sit down family discussion.
People wonder why there are so many school shootings! They just don't understand why? why? why? Hello wake up AMERICA! BABIES raising BABIES. Or in your household is tv raising yours? Just a question.
Honestly I don't think that the teletubbies are hurting anyone. I do however feel that the tv in most homes is on over 80% of the time. I know for a fact that what is on tv 80% of the time is NOT wholesome television.

If that is true then I feel really bad for children who live on a farm and have to feed the pigs. What the heck do those kids see as ok?? They see animals do their business outside are children gonna start doing their business outside NO! I believe that parents for the most part train their children to use the potty. I think that parents can also teach their kids right from wrong. What is wrong is telling children that being obese or a little fat, is unacceptable because it leads to anorexia and other eating disorders. Then how will those kids life turn out. All because some expert told them to dislike a stuffed animal cause it promotes obese. Although I don't remember there being a disclaimer on the box for a stuffed elephants stating," Warning adult supervision is required for children thinking its ok to be obese."
