This time directed by Dennis Iliadis, The Last House on the Left is back to shock and offend us yet again. It's not hard to see why, with films like Saw, Hostel, etc still drawing big crowds at the box office.

Craven's 1972 film was reportedly a response to vietnam war footage the director had been exposed to. While some hail it as a "a neglected American horror exploitation masterpiece.." (Roger Ebert), many see it as as vulgar and disgusting, what do you think?

Craven regarding the remake: "I'm far enough removed from these films that the remakes are a little like having grandchildren. The story, about the painful side effects of revenge, is an evergreen. The headlines are full of people and nations taking revenge and getting caught up in endless cycles of violence...."
