AL PACINO Joins Danny OCEAN'S THIRTEEN
By Wind(up)bird on April 25, 2006 6:55 AM
Ocean's Thirteen, the sequel to the sequel to the remake, Ocean's Eleven, just got a little cooler and more interesting. Al Pacino has been added to the list of the largest and potentially costliest ensemble pic around. He joins Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Andy Garcia, and (most importantly) Bernie Mac in the flick that shoots this summer in LA.Is it just us, or do you also always want to refer to Al Pacino as Al McFuckin' Pacino? The poor man's Nick Nolte, who would also be good. Ever see "The Good Thief"?

I think i'm in the minority who thinks Jolie is an over-rated actress. Don't think she'd even be considered as an extra/background space-filler if Pitt wasn't involved.

She's done some fine work, but not recently. I think she's far superior to Roberts and Jones, but really chicks just ruin flix unless the role is mandatory. Ever see "Master & Comander"?

I don't know if thats so, but its an interesting point. "Master & Commander" was better without broads, but that does not always translate universally. However in a tacky heist flick that could work well. Replace Jolie with a very feminine guy like Ben Affleck or Hugh Grant, or just use some eye candy like Jerri Ryan and don't give her any lines, but since the plot is as yet unspecified it's all just clutching at straws.
I have seen the "Good Thief" and thought it was cool in its weird "Foreign" way, and certainly played Nolte to perfection, but really cannot be compared to say "To Catch A Thief" or even "The Italian Job". The second remake of the Oceans was interesting enough, but too silly to compare with the classics.

Had anybody from this site done any research they would have found that most of the cast of these movies work for scale.
I mean come on, did you guys think they are paying each person in a huge cast 10 mil or more each?

What are you babbling about?
No one here has mentioned a word about pay.

Why would anyone bring up Cary Grant, none of these clowns could hold a candle to him on their single greatest day. These movies are slightly more entertaining than the originals with a bevy of Movie Stars and some actors too.

"The Good Thief" was written for Nolte. "To Catch A Thief" was cast only to Grant. Those movies were made with greatness in mind. "Oceans" is a cluster fuck of movie stars that is clever but will never be considered anything more than trendy of its times.
Gary Busey would be an interesting addition.

They should just put Pierce Brosnan in there, i think he'd fit in pretty well with the rest of the cast
