What do you mean zombies don't eat the living? Zombies eat whatever they can but go for brains (found in the living). And no, they aren't zombies in the classic Evil Dead movies. Zombies eat, that's it. The Deadites (Name given in Army of Darkness) didn't try to purely kill Ash, they tortured him also; Taking the body of his dead love (First movie and it's remake with different ending entitled Evil Dead 2). This counts as non zombie activity.

I will not mind all that much if Raimi decides to only produce this film and not direct. However, if Bruce Campbell does not reprise his role as S-mart employee Ash, I will refuse to watch it. Although I think Johnny Knoxville would make an interesting choice. But Bruce has been one of Hollywoods most under rated an unappreciated actors for the past 20 years, and with a remake starring himself maybe a whole new generation would embrace him and give him the respect as an actor he deserves.
Shop smart, shop S-mart.

EV2 was made so it could as a sequel and a remake. As the frist film was only seen at festivals and then straight video, when 2 was made they made it so u don't have to c the frist but if u hav then the first 5min is a recap with some changes to simple it. (I'm the same gut know did the speak about canderian demon by the way)
Role of Ash

first off, Im completely against the idea of this remake. With that said, I think that in order to minimize the hemoraging of one of the greatest movies ever made, they should cast Ryan Reynolds as Ash. I know 90% of america only knows him cause of VanWilder, but if youve seen him in Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place youd see that he could play the wimp that ash was in the first half of the series and the cocky ash of the second half of the series. But thats just me.
SCREW REMAKING GREAT MOVIES!!!!

This is something I just don't get. There is no Evil Dead without Bruce Campbell. None. End of story...if you think otherwise your opinion sucks boomstick.
There is no other actor (regardless of looks) that could pull it off and make it half as good. I'm waiting for someone to say they're remaking Nightmare on Elm St. or Halloween. WTF!?!?!?!??!?!? Psycho the remake was a travesty. What's with all the crappy remakes? Battlestar Galactica with a sexchange? That Dawn of the Dead wannabe...DID I MISS A DAMN MEETING? I'm not one to geek out in public often...but this is a bit awkward. If Sam Raimi were directing I would feel better about it.
Please tell me Bruce will be in this movie. If not, the only words I want ot hear are "This was a dumb idea and we're not doing it".
new speceial effects suck

I really hope this remake does not happen.I don't care so much about directors or actors, but I know that if this movie was made now it would look so fake because they would use modern computer graphics which are so obviously animated. The original and Evil Dead 2 are perferct.Call me crazy, but I tell you that 1970's and 80's movie production and effects are far more superior than today's.In thoes old movies the monsters look real as real can get, like you can actually touch them, even though it's just foam, slime, and make up.In new movies, you can clearly see that you are looking at a cartoon, and it's no where near as convincing.Though the technology was somewhat more primitive,it was much more effective. The original Evil Dead movies are perfect and have no room for improvement, eccept maybe edit out a few boring parts close to the beginig of the first one, like the forest raping the girl scene.Otherwise these movies never have a dull moment.Action packed and the scariest movie ever !
here's an idea

How about instead of making a lesser version of Evil Dead, release the 1979 original in theaters for the first time(since it never was in theaters). It has gone beyond being just a cult film, because every horror fan I know has seen it and loves it.There must be millions of us.It would probably do good at the box office.I don't go to the movies that often, maybee once or twice in a year if at all,but I would go to see the original in a theater even though I've seen this movie countless times, just like I went to see Star Wars when it came back to theaters in 1997.

As can be heard in DVD commentaries and just about EVERY interview EVER given by Campbell and Raimi:
When Raimi made Evil Dead 2 he DID NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS TO THE FOOTAGE OF EVIL DEAD. It was a different production company and in order to show re-cap footage from the original movie he would have had to fork up a lot of cash. Yes, it is strange and ironic that a director can't even use footage from his own movie in the sequel when he has the rights to the everything else, title, characters, etc... That's Hollywood for you. So rather than go through legal hassles or pay out the nose, it was decided to just film new footage for the recap. Of course not all the actors were available, and so forth...so the filmed the re-cap CAUSE THEY HAD TO. Not having a recap was the only other option, but Raimi obviously felt the audience needed to be brought up to speed somehow. SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED WITH AOD. Plus Bridget Fonda called up Raimi and requested a small part, she was a fan. All of this can be found on Bruce Campbell's website, or in any google search of [bruce campbell interview] And since the continuity was screwed up anyhow cause of the recaps, Raimi and Bruce felt justified in taking small liberties throughout the films. So, NO, EVIL DEAD 2 was NOT MEANT to be a remake, But continuity got shot to hell due to LEGAL PROBLEMS with PROPERTY RIGHTS

For crying out loud, it's NOT a re-make...
It's a follow-up. even though it doesn't really carry the story forth it's a different plot, different people involved (apart from Ash who's in all three movies)and the ending does carry the story forwards - to the beginning of Army of Darkness . It's a bit like the first movie since it takes place in the same old cottage and so on but it's still not a re-make! To say that Dead by Dawn is a re-make of the first movie is like saying that pretty much every Friday the 13'th is a re-make of the first movie. They just changed the plot a little... Yeah well that's stupid it's not a re-make...
But i would like to see a re-make since both Raimi and Campbell will be involved i think it will carry the spirit of the first one on. If it sucks well than that's to bad but hey then you still have the original...
It's like the TCM re-make it's not as good as the original of course but i still like it and i'm glad that it was made...

Brad pitt or Johnny Depp as Ash? Okay, Brad couldn't even play a vampire well, let alone an ass kicking half man half chainsaw. The only person right for the part is obviously Bruce, but since he's about 20 years older than he was when they first created Evil Dead and it's companion (see how I avoided previous arguements, pretty suave eh? eh?) he's never going to play Ash. They'll probably use someone from another horror flick or even a "zombie movie" as you apes put it. That would give the movie allure and reel in the crowds. Am I the only one who ever took a broadcasting or advertising class???
GAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
what actor could play ash

Well dude did you ever see the movie "the serpent and the rainbow" there are zombies, but of a different type, i believe there are just different types of zombies, i mean its a walking corpse, i mean how much more simple does it have to be? If you saw someone crawling out of a grave and start eating pine cones wouldnt that still be a zombie?
You guy's need females.

... okies, there was ONE person who knew what they were talking about, the person who posted reagarding Sam not having the film footage rights..... but if you're still not convinced, why not see the answer in BLACK AND WHITE! (Litterally)... and any TRUE fan would have read the small print in the end credits; "Evil Dead II - The Sequel to the Ultimate Experience in Gruelling Terror" *grabs a highlighter pen and puts a pink line in "SEQUEL" * Now, please.....how can you argue with a clear statement in the movie itself...

okay, okay, okay. First of all, The Evil Dead Two was NOT a remake of the first one, DUH!!!! Because, why would they call it Evil Dead *TWO* if it was the same as the first? That just doesn't make sense. They just had little recaps from the first one, to show what happened previously. And Second of all, they TOTALLY should **NOT**, I repeat, NNNOOOTTT!!! remake this movie! It was PERFECT the way it was!!! That's pretty much all I gotta say.Yup, see yaz.
