A film starring Wolverine from the popular "X-Men" movie series is in development, thanks to 20th Century Fox and "Troy" screenwriter David Benioff, who also wrote both the novel and the screenplay for "25th Hour." According to
Variety, the studio is looking to bring some other familiar faces aboard the project.
The article said that the script will be written under the assumption that Hugh Jackman will be playing the title character. Jackman has played Wolverine in both previous "X-Men" films. Fox also hopes to have Marvel Studios head Avi Arad on board to produce. No negotiations are complete for cast, producers, or a director.
The studio is going ahead with "Wolverine" and "X-Men 3" simultaneously, though no release date is set for either. "X-Men 3" is also in need of a director, since Singer's contract with 20th Century Fox
was torn up last summer.
