Bryan Singer has lost his two-year contract with 20th Century Fox according to
The Hollywood Reporter. The contract termination means that Singer will not be directing "X-Men 3," which is a Fox franchise. Let us pray.
The contract between Fox, Singer, and his production company (Bad Hat Harry), was only halfway through the first year, but Fox pulled out of the deal amidst the news that Singer will be
directing 'Superman V' and "Logan's Run" for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Doing "X-Men 3" was not specifically part of Singer's contract, but it was assumed that his deal with Fox necessarily included the sequel. Before the "X-Men 3" paperwork could be finalized, however, Singer was offered "Superman" by WB.
Neither Fox nor Singer has commented on the deal breaking. The future of "X-Men 3" is uncertain. We can only hope that Fox chooses a replacement who can take up where Singer left off.
