Should the citizens of Brantford, Ontario be happy that a movie was shot in their down-town area, or upset because the burnt-out-dump look was just what this film needed?

nowadays directores have no idea of how a videogame movie should be
do they even play he games?
like Final Fantasy, or Tomb Raider
they were good but they lacked the idea of the videogames, mortal kombat and doom were good, and they were like the games
i reccomend playing a videogame first
also, this movie looks alot like house of the dead, the 2002 blockbuster

Mortal Kombat and Doom were corporate, unrealistic, cheap, passionless, with infinately poor acting and directing. If the events of these films were reality based, then everyday communication is not reality based. But this rouses one's mind to consider that everybody is quite tolerant of the non-reality based attitudes and minds of the everyday commoner. So in this way, it makes a sense. Just like how Doom's film lacked what the game had.... doom!

I have to agree with you about Final Fantasy and Lara Croft Tom Raider being incredibly shit films, unfortunately I think I have a strange craving of cutting your guts out and feeding them to you! What the fuck are you talking about? Doom wasn't good, it was a piece of corporate shit! I mean, what about the fact that the character is by himself in the game. What about the fact that, in the game, he versus creatures that aren't, even in spirit, remotely reminiscent of those in the film. What about the fact that the acting is so much reminiscent of a lame-ass soapie or Paul W S Andersen film? Can I leave you with a question? Did you like Alien VS Predator?

Can you smell the rising career of David S Goyer and Paul W S Andersen? They feed the hand that feeds us comic books, graphic novels and video games in the cinema. And they continue to be accepted within the mainstream? They have committed the crime of blending quality with crap. Can anyone see this as a crime? Or is the merging of the two a new fad like MTV or FOX.

"Mortal Kombat and Doom were corporate, unrealistic, cheap, passionless".....
And the games were independent, realistic, not-so-cheap, and loaded with passion????

that was uncalled for..i still say that they should have a guy named harry and a daughter named cheryll instead of what it is now...and in the preview i say a lot of ppl running into a church. in the game, there was harry, cheryl, cybil, and dahlia...and a few more...still looks great

The Doom video games changed the way 1stPS games were made. Doom 3 just about beats all other video games out there, and the movie was near perfect. I don't know why u noobs are complaining. The Rock was awesome, and so was the directing, and and effects. Without doom, video games would not be the same.

Will Sean Bean die...again?

All I wanna know is...will Sean Bean die in Silent Hill, because as far as I remember, he has yet to make it to the end credits in any movie I have ever seen him in. But without a doubt his best death is taking three arrows in the chest like a champ in Fellowship of the Ring. =)
The trailer looks great, it has the feel of the game and MOST things look the same. So what if it is a female instead of some idiot named Harry (whose voiceover was the weakest part of the game...he sounded like an idiot). Radha is one of the best actresses out there (and a cutie too!)

Yes, Doom was a great game...but it was NOT the end-all, revolutionizing, change-the-face-of-gaming machine that you make it out to be. There were a few games to do that before Doom even came out, and the games that are currently coming out now are teaching Doom the meaning of the word "own".

sean bean always dies, hes just so good at it. except in troy, he was pretty much the only person to survive. odd.

so far a lot of the videogames turned movie havent been as successful as the videogames
the reason is sometimes the creators of the games havent been involved in the making of the movie
whereas with Silent Hill most of the creators are working in unison with the directors etc
i so hope its a success, i've been looking forward to this for ages now :)
but the chances of it being as good as the game are slim
you cant beat perfection :)

there's no getting around how bad doom sucked.
accept it.
this movie looks promising, though. the preview captures the feel of the game quite well, and it should be more special fx than cgi, if i'm not mistaken.
i just hope halo turns out better than doom.

This movie is gonna suck ; ; (btw Doom was horrible and so was Mortal Combat)
How do you screw up silent hill anyways? EVERY GAME IS DIFFRENT! OMG, if there was one vg turned movie that would be wonderful, it would have been this one because you wouldn't have to worry about screwing up the games storyline! But no! these ppl find SOME way to screw it all up don't they? Just for the record, Silent Hill wasn't deserted until Sharon and her FATHER HARRY (not mother Rose since her mother died)go to silent hill where Sharon is reborn with Alessa since they are the same person except Sharon is a resurrected version of her! O and Cybil isn't going on a high speed chase, she's called into town after Everyone dies do to Alessa's awakening, which releases her dream on Silent Hill! I pray to god that there is no SH2 movie, I can see it now! James is locked in a bathroom after going to silent hill to find his missing boyfriend, that's right they're gay! DANM YOU Christophe Gans! your a horrible man, a horrible horrible man! And if there are any true sh fans who have actually... idk maybe just... well.. um... played the fucking game, you'd understand what i'm talking about, danm movie jocks!

Some of you guys really need to calm down and stop talking down about this movie. The vast majority of the people that think it looks good have probably played, or are somewhat familiar with, the games. These people are just extremely optimistic about it and want to see how good it is; not just to compare it to the games. The movies that stem from video games and the games themselves will never be identical. Just like books.
That's fine if you think the game was better, but if you go into the theatre thinking it will suck, then you will probably still think it sucks by the ending credits. How about some open minds here? It's the least you could do, especially if you even remotely liked the video game.

Okay ... Doom: as a game was great ... as a movie, sucked, granted graphics and all that were good, but overall it sucked. So now that that is settled, im surprised that knowone brought up Resident Evil turned movie ... wtf happened there ... can you say way off base from the game. Every game is diff so its hard to judge them all the same. But every preview i have seen for Silent Hill has looked great ... the potential is def there. i cant wait to see it when it comes out.

For those of you who haven't seen Final Fantasy: Advent Children i would suggest doing so, dont bitch about subtitles, just read them and enjoy the ridiculously sweet fight scenes.
