Neither the Hollywood Reporter or Variety review loved hack-director Michael Bay's, The Island, but neither of them hated it either. Both give note the simplicity of the film, that it's basically an action chase film with a plot made for the action sequences, and both give nods to Scarlet Johannson and Ewan McGregor's limited performances. The pic is expected to do bangiup, no-brainer business when it opens in two weeks.
