Warner Bros Greenlights SHYAMALAN's Lady!
By Wind(up)bird on March 24, 2005 9:16 AM
Like him or love him (or feel differently), M. Night Shyamalan's next film "Lady in the Water," has received a greenlight from Warner Bros and is currently in the casting phase. Night has made all his movies over at Disney until now (they passed on this one). The film is a supernatural thriller (surprise!) set in the present day.The Hollywood Reporter writes "(the story) centers on the superintendent of an apartment building who finds a rare type of sea nymph swimming in the apartment pool." The film will shoot this summer in and around Philadelphia (where M. Night has shot all of his films) and will be released in July of '06.

Peter Jackson's a heavey director, M. Night Shyamalan is pretty skinny really.

In actual terms, yes of course. But his films do rule.

I've enjoyed some of Shayamalan's movies and I think he's a decent director and all but having watched some of the movie's he made as a little kid (he puts one on each of his DVD's) I have to say I'm not impressed. I mean when Spielberg was a kid he made that WWII movie with his friends and you could see the talent oozing out of it. Shyamalan's early movies look no better than the one's I made when I was screwing around as a kid, what made him special enough to get a shot at being a director?

Like every other director, he had a lucky break and took it. If you had the same chance, would you take it?

I suppose talent does come into it but I reckon what it really comes down to most of all is being in the right place at the right time.
