Training puppies: let them feel at home

Training puppies is more challenging a job than training a matured dog. As soon as you have brought him at your place, the first thing that you should do is to make him feel at home. Until puppies find themselves comfortable and secured enough, they won't respond to you.

When you start training puppies, just keep it in mind that being too small, they can't take long tiring hours of training. Initially you should train them for 10-15 minutes a day and that too with basic commands. But first of all you need to habituate them with their dinner bowls and the little cozy corner of the house where they can rest.

You should try to fix your puppy's biological clock also. This is one of the most important aspects of training puppies. You need to make them adapt to a routine just like you do for you own kid. After the little one gets used to it and starts feeling absolutely comfortable with you and your family, you should start training puppies with the second phase of basic commands.

Training for dogs: some basic commands

Every dog is trained with some basic commands like 'stay', 'come', 'heel' etc. but puppies can't follow all of them. Training puppies how to sit and how to heel are enough for their age. Gradually when your puppy would grow up you can teach him the rest.

During the training session, do not ever shout on your puppy. If it does something wrong, then behave coldly and frown. If they can do what you are trying to teach, then praise your puppy with lots of kisses and hugs. Thus they can understand and identify what you are expecting from them and what is undesirable in them. Training puppies requires lot of patience and you need to bear with your little puppies till they learn the basics.
