Training obedience: the meaning of the term

Training obedience does not mean making a dog understand some basic commands only. The chief aim of the training is to raise him as a well-behaved pet as a whole so that he would be counted as a responsible member of the family. The obedience training starts with the basic commands like 'come', 'sit', 'walk', 'stay', 'recall' and 'down'. When pets get well acquainted with these terms and can act likewise, you need to build up on that.

There are no such written rules in training obedience. Every dog is unique like we are. So you need to find out the correct manner in which you can teach him or her best. For that you have to do a lot of research on your pet's breed. Each breed has its own peculiar features and temperament. You have to study that first and then go for training obedience.

Training your dog requires a confident trainer

As the trainer plays the key role in training obedience, he should be organized, focused, confident and must have a pleasing personality. Animals do have a strong sense of identifying people. They easily get charmed by assertive and good-natured people. If you are confused in what you are doing while training your dog you won't get a good response from your pet. So when you are training your dog you should have a clear idea of what you would be doing.

You must be comfortable and confident enough while training your pet. If you are not, there's no point in trying your hand in it. Your hard efforts would all go in vain. In that case you should better hire an obedience trainer. Training lapdogs is rather easy but when you are having a pedigree dog, then it's better to leave the responsibility of training obedience to your pet to a professional.
