There could be another instance wherein the situation is reversed. Say, you were trying to install a game disc to the hard drive for faster game loading. If by
chance your hard drive has a corrupted section and that your ps3 is trying to access that particular area, then you have a strong chance of getting hit by the ps3
80010029 message.
What you can do at this stage is to first try to determine if your hard drive is physically in perfect condition. To do this, you can try backing all of your old files to
an external source, then attempt a system recovery over that hard drive. That will help you determine the overall condition of your hard drive. You can also try
removing/ deleting those corrupted data files from the hard drive, then attempt your previously failed operation. If all goes well, you won'y be seeing a pestering ps3 80010029 popping out on your screen.
