Subject: The Sham of  The  Village

May I just have my money back please? I should have walked out in the first 10 minutes like I wanted. But I wasn't there alone. Did anyone see M Night's 1st attempt at a movie at age 12? (Think Blair witch-) Well, The Village is on par with those. This was by far the worst movie I have ever subjected myself to. I recommend no one see's this sham of a movie. M Night connived a money making scheme here in 'The Village', and I was taken for a ride. I want to shout from the mountain tops "People! Do NOT waste your time nor your money. I left feeling totally bambazzoled, angry and used. (like there isn't enough of that in life as it is? M.Night now jumps on the bandwagon to take my hard earned money) It's all a fraud. The hype did not live up to it's magnitude. Its not set in 1897, but 2004 outside of Philadelphia in a game preserve. This was not a horror movie, as it was believed to be. Don't expect to be holding your breath in fear, it was nothing more than a badly written attempt of a philosophical love story. Expect to sign often and yawn even more from boredom and discontent. It was a mindless farce, set around a bunch of rich, pompous, selfish outcasts who hide their children away from society in the woods, in the guise of 'protecting them. ' It was a droll, dull, lackluster, uninspiring, amish like love story in a cult, movie, so boring and ho hum a spectacle, so completely lacking in unforseen plots, it deadened my brain, and ground away at my patience. The 'elders' were the most selfish people I had ever seen. (And they pretented society was bad) Their only concern was their own personal, idealistic, cult-ish views. 'The monster in the closet really pissed me off! The only 'monsters' in the movies were the elders! They acted in such an ugly pompous manner, all at the expense of, and with no consideration for their children and or their future. Scare the children with monsters!? Talk about psychological child abuse! And what kind of parent sends a young, blind girl out into the woods alone? If they so feared society, what the heck was he thinking sending her out there? Give me a break .With a father like that, there is no need for monsters. And the dead, skinned animals lying around and the red slashes on the doors? What were these people smoking? It was incest of the brain, some one call a doctor! The acting itself was so extravagant in language and style, their grandiloquent manner turned my stomach from the get go, leaving me feeling suspicious with a nasty, vile taste in my mouth. It was so slow and boring , with unmoving characters, but for Joaquin Phoenix and 'Ivy', who obviously gave their best performance. The best one could do with such an idiotic lame script, that lacked in plot and point. The dialogue was stilted and unmoving at best, wooden and amateurish, I gritted my teeth and grimaced as I sat in my seat. Let's just say that perhaps, if there was anything good about the movie, it was the suspenseful musical score. But then again, forget I said that, because it led you to nothing, but a dark meaningless void of tedium. It was easy to know exactly what would happen in the next long winded scene, very predicable, no suspenseful plot twists here. The anti climactic ending was the most disappointing, as if the movie before that wasn't disappointing enough. The whole movie leads you slowly by the hand, promising something, beyond your wildest dreams at the end, to simply dropping you off a cliff and saying “Sorry about your luck”. I was like 'What? What happened to the ending?" He led us to one point and then BAM! Movie over. I quietly moaned "Boo' as I exited my seat. I was a huge fan of M. Night , but being fraudulently mislead as I was, I will be hard pressed to be taken in again. It was advertised as a scary movie, the only scarey thing was that I actually sat through the whole thing like a mindless drone with all the other theater goers. Shame on you M.Night Shyamaylan. As for the DVD and an alternate twist? How about an alternate movie?
