People like you give Catholics a bad name. I was raised Catholic as well, went to Catholic school and the whole bit (our nuns didn?t beat the hell out of us incidentally, confront your feelings about that particular priest from your past for god sake). People like you are why I am just vaguely Christian now. It is the puritanical arrogance of the devout Christian masses that buy the whole ?the bible knows everything? horseshit.

The Holy Bible is nothing more than the worlds most successful and best selling novel of all time. It is a collection of stories, most fabricated, some blatantly untrue, written to get a primitive, uneducated populace to play nicely with each other. Like the whole Santa thing, (which I am assuming you still believe that a big fat guy in a red suit gives a shit if you are nice or not) it is a bogus story with real roots manipulated to keep kids in line.

As for the whole Jesus thing, he was a cool guy with a great message, (which is remarkably similar to every other major religious figure in history) ?be nice to others, don?t be selfish, believe in something bigger than yourself, and have some integrity?there you go?there is the Cliff?s Notes for the New Testament.

Most intelligent people these days outgrow Christianity and seem to tend to come back to it later in life once they have defined their own spirituality and can appreciate the ritual and community that organized religion provides.

Others, like you, have their spirituality not so much retarded, but lashed to a tree and left for dead by the mindless repetition that is most organized religion. You are a drone, another blindly tithing bottomless pit.

You don?t seem like the ?Opiate of the Masses? is working too well for you. Most people that work as hard as you to damn those around you to hell for their beliefs are usually terrified that their own beliefs might be wrong. Don't forget, Hitler was a devout catholic.

Do yourself a favor?learn why Buddhism, Hinduism, hell Judaism (seeing how you worship a Jewish carpenter, that one seems especially appropriate), Taoism etc. are all such beautiful traditions, before you claim yours is the only way to ?salvation?.
