Topic: Film Soderbergh Reaps Success at SAG Awards
By Acheron on 2001-03-12 07:29:43
(E!) Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards brought good fortune to many, epecially Steven Soderbergh and his crew on Traffic and Erin Brockovich.

Both films scored high honors at the awards banquet, with Julia Roberts winning best actress for her work as Erin Brockovich in Erin Brockovich. Benicio Del Toro took home leading man honors for his performance in Traffic.

Traffic also won the guild's best ensemble-acting award, as it had three seperate story and nearly 135 different speaking roles (damn!).

The SAG Awards typically are decent (though not perfect) indicators of how the Oscars will pan out, and for good reason. Actors represent 23 percent of the Academy's voters, the largest percentage of any group.
