It looks like a trilogy is planned for The Matrix. I sure hope that they will attempt to make it a worthwhile trilogy. There definitely is a lot of room to fit in a more complex plot, and hopefully it will be just as intriguing as the first, just as long as the story is written fairly well. cast list. (More badass Kung Fu action!) The martial arts expert reportedly caught the eye of filmmakers Andy and Larry Wachowski, who wrote and directed The Matrix. Joel Silver, the producer of both Romeo Must Die and the 1999 Oscar winner The Matrix, has given his blessing to Li's participation in the sequels. Li would join returning cast members Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Ann Moss, Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving.
