Watch BIONIC WOMAN, PUSHING DAISIES Now

Having just watched the pilot episodes of some of the fall's buzz-laden shows, we at the D thought we'd offer up an in-house review. Before you get too confused, we know, orginal content on dtheatre, wtf? Don't worry, we'll get through this together.

Bionic Woman

While it was a copy of the pilot that had unfinished effects, unmixed and sometimes out of synch audio, we still dug it enough to check back in when the series starts to see if dtheatre-small screen-hero and Battlestar Galactica executive producer David Eick piles on the intelligence and nuance (go watch s1 & 2 of BSG). ;At times the execution is muddled.  BW's reason for a) becoming suicidal and b) deciding to work with the shadowy government peeps that kept her locked up, aren't fleshed out enough.  Their gloss-over sticks out. Other than that, the cast (save ) are solid, the look and style and slick, and the live-action, CGI-lite stunts should be fun to watch.

Pushing Daisies

This show has bucketloads of buzz behind it.  Some say the audience that viewed the pilot at Comic Con were more than pleased.  After watching, we've found ourselves seriously interested.  Shot like Tim Burton's first few flicks, Pushing Daisies is chocked full of oversaturated colors, whimsicality, and tonuge-in-cheek light-heartedness. The dialogue has rhythm and a bigger than usual vocabulary for network TV.  The show's concept and tone hold promise for character depth, curious adventure, and fresh romance, though, lets hope they find for the leads to consummate their relationship every now and then or the build-up between to two will become annoying.  Overall, the show works, is smart and original, and if it finds an audience, should last.
