PS3 doesn't start: how could that be?

It's a regular scene among ps3 forums to see people complaining and seeking assistance when their playstation 3 doesn't start. It's is so common that it will make you wonder and realize Sony must have missed something big during the time they were designing and rolling out the famous playstation 3.


In fact, a very hight percentage of ps3 gamers / owners have to deal with ps3 doesn't start problems. Most of them have to end up returning their ps3 console and having it replaced. Good for those whose units are still covered by warranty. But how about those whose warranty have expired? That means shelling out more than one hundred dollars to get it fixed. Sound bad, isn't it?

I mentioned about time because getting it repaired does not take a day or two, but weeks!


Most of the time, when your playstation 3 doesn't start, it has to do with overheating issues. Assuming you have made sure that all connections are firm and no loose connections hanging around, your next stop is to check on the power supply. Overheating can be caused by a clogged cooling fan at the back of the power supply, making it difficult to cool down your ps3. Your game console can get really warm during play time, and if ventilation is poor, it will get pretty hot, which will eventually lead to your ps3 doesn't start problem.
