Jim Carrey has agreed to star in a low-budget movie for 20th Century Fox in which he'll play the role of a man trapped inside a phone booth after being told by a caller that a rifle is trained on him and that he'll be shot if he hangs up, trade reports said today. While the plot sounds a great deal like Speed, the action potential obviously would appear limited; according to the Hollywood Reporter, Carrey is said to have been attracted by the character-driven plot. It's also been said that he will be on camera in every scene.
The pic is slated to roll this summer on a yet-to-be-determined Gotham street, and the entire shoot is expected to be completed within a couple of weeks. To accomplish this, Schumacher will do an extensive amount of rehearsing, and it's envisioned that Fox 2000 will employ Internet technology by streaming footage of the rehearsal and shooting process, to show film students and those interested in the process how a movie gets made. (hopefully that will be on the DVD)
