 Producer Dean Devlin has expressed concern that violent scenes in The Patriot, expecially those featuring the 13- and 12-year-old boys who play Mel Gibson's sons, may result in the MPAA meting out an R rating to the film.?Nevertheless, Devlin told USA Today, director Roland Emmerich has vowed not to cut the scenes.?"I don't think anyone's cheering these children shooting their guns.?I don't think children seeing it are going to want to shoot guns from looking at it.?...?If the only kind of violence our children see is heroic violence, I think that's really dangerous.?...?We felt it was important to show that it's horrifying."
