By the way, I think it's time that you guys changed the poll topic now that the Oscars are over :)

Really good to see Topsy Turvy get some credit . . Matrix was fun and all, but in terms of DIFFICULTY, episode one's FX did crush it . .I mean, the "stop-in-midair-and-rotate-around" trick started off in a gap commercial, right? Whereas Jar-Jar, though annoying as hell, represents a huge leap for compositing CG - the first real digital actor (though not human) . . . Kevin Spacey was great in AB, but really, I don't think the role challenged him, as it seemed fairly close to a composite of his other roles in Swimming, US, LA, whatever . . I'd have given actor to Crowe, whose subtle mannerisms and repressed anger & anxiety made Mann's Insider all the more gripping . . supporting actor should have gone to someone other than Caine BUT no one would have had as GREAT an acceptance speech, so I'll forgive that . . . big surprise on Jolie - for me - but then I didn't see girl interrupted . . . Blame Canada rocked, but I think out of some shred of respect for the nation they couldn't give it the oscar . . . nice mounty girls though . . finally - never let Whoopi host the thing EVER again, cause Billy is at the very least tolerable, and at the most DAMN funny (the spartacus thing in the intro was priceless . . also "I see White People") . . my more than two cents . . .

While I have never seen "Topsy Turvy" I have to say other than that I am almost completely in agreement with all of the given oscars for a change. "American Beauty" truly deserved the best direction, original screenplay and cinematography. Kevin Spacey deserved his Oscar. He has always been very impressive but his part in "American Beauty" really was made for him. "The Matrix" deserved what it got too. I am glad Star Wars didn't get anything.. all though the FX were impressive.

Actually, that effect had been used before the GrAP used it in their commercial. I first saw it in an obscure music video in 1996, and then shortly after that in a meat beat manifesto video. Neither were quite the same quality, but it was very cool to see.
