Tom and Gerri are already into their sixties, and have lived a simple but happy lives. They have only one son, Joe, who works as an activist lawyer. Outside the family, they have close friends like Mary, who despite pretending to be ok, has been living a miserable life after her husband left her. The couple tried to get her get acquainted with another friend Ken, but things get a little mixed up when Mary instead began to flirt with the younger Joe.
Things get worse when she finds out Joe has a new girlfriend Katie.
