Hailed as one of the most important espionage cases of the 20th century by former president Ronald Reagan, this story focuses on how higly sensitive information from Soviet spy networks was leaked into the US by an otherwise ordinary French man. It was 1981, and relations between the US and Russia was getting nowhere good. In the middle of the story were two men, Grigoriev and Pierre Froment. Grigoriev was a senior KGB officer who got disenchanted with the Communism ideals, and was determined to bring it down. He began passing Soviet spy network information to French businessman Pierre. Pierre, fearing for his life and his family's, passes these information to the French government, which then found its way to the White House.
