Are there public records for small claims?
Small claims court records are public records just like the other types of court records. Small claim records are these records that contain information about less serious law offences. In some occasions small claims records are also called misdemeanors - crimes such as trespassing, being drunk on a public places or behaving inappropriately in public, driving recklessly, braking or damaging public or private property and so on.
Small claim court records can be obtained the same way as any other court records. Read on to learn how.
How to obtain small claims court records?
Small claim court records can be requested by the court clerk's department. To do so you will need to know the name of the person whose record you need to get and which court has the records. Actually having this information is the hardest part of your search.
A great way to overcome this problem is by running a small records search online. There are many public record databases that you can use. In order to run a search you will need just the first and the last name of the person. Even if you do not know which court was responsible for the case you will still find the records you need. An online search will also save you a lot of time because you can do it from your home and you will be able to view the records right away.
