Macromedia said film director Tim Burton has agreed to produce animated shorts for the company's Shockwave site, which is building a library of online entertainment.?The agreement with Burton, maker of such films as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, comes after South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Stan Lee Media Inc.?also agreed to produce shorts for the site, which features animation and video games developed using Macromedia's software."Six or 12 months ago, Hollywood looked at the internet as a marketing vehicle," said Macromedia CEO Rob Burgess, who flew to Utah to unveil the agreement at the Sundance Film Festival.?"Now it recognizes it as a huge entertainment platform." Burton agreed to develop 26 shorts that will run 2-5 minutes each.?The first is expected to debut before June 1.
