The National Personnel Records Center is the army personnel records center. Almost any army personnel record can be found there. Here is how to start your search for army personnel records.
First you need to check if the record you are after is managed by the NPRC. Than you must get a SF 180. This is a standard form that can be downloaded from the Internet. Alternatively you can call the NPRC. Next you have to complete this form with as much information as possible. You will need to fill in the person name, service number, date of enlistment and date of separation, the service the person was enlisted in, if the person is retired or deceased. You will need to write why you need to request the form.
Can I obtain army personnel records online?

An online search is the preferred way of searching for military records as it requires less time and you do not need to know a lot of details about the person whose records you want to find.
