What kind of information is filed in a public land records?
One of the most common types of US public records are land public records. A land public record, as the name suggests, will hold information about specific piece of land. Any land transaction is not official until it is recorded by court. Because of this a public land record originates from the entry made at the court.
What you are likely to find in public land records is:
- name of the owner (private, business, county, state or federal)
- current address
- size of the land
- value
- transactions
How can I find free public land records?
Since land records originate from courts, they are usually kept there. If you need to get free public land records you may go to the court public record department and file a request. The problem of course is that you may not know in which court to go, not to mention that you will need some spare time to actually go there.
A better way to search for free public land records is to do it online. A good place to start your search is a big and reliable public record database. It will be connected to the public record archives of all courts and you will be able to perform a nationwide search in just a few seconds – for example you may need Union county public land records and it will not matter if you are located there.
